How do I pick a tank size?

Bigger is usually easier to keep stable, because a larger volume changes temperature and water chemistry more slowly. Pick a size based on the adult size and number of the fish you plan to keep.

Do I need to cycle a new tank?

Yes. Let beneficial bacteria establish (the nitrogen cycle) before adding many fish, and test ammonia, nitrite and nitrate as the tank matures.

Where should I put my aquarium?

On a level, sturdy stand rated for the full weight of the filled tank (water weighs about 8.3 lb per US gallon), away from direct sunlight, heaters and drafts.
